Well, I guess they're not really in the mood to forgive and forget just after its happened, but you are right to apologise. They'll probably say sorry for getting angry when they calm down.

A little 'serious' addendum to this:

If you do something wrong and then you apologise, then your done. that's a statement, recognising you did something wrong and saying that you accept that you did wrong.
If they then choose to get more angry at you- they are at fault.
(the fact that they got angry in the first place is also their fault.)
Any other action than them forgiving you makes wrong.

But if YOU then get angry, your an idiot.
